About Us

Urban Market 1919 is a locally owned and operated market in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, built around one simple idea: make local convenient.

Founded in 2020, Urban Market 1919 brings local food, Newfoundland-made products, fresh flowers, gifts and everyday essentials together under one roof. Since opening, we have proudly worked with and supported more than 300 Newfoundland and Labrador makers, producers, farmers and small businesses.

Urban Market is also home to Teresa James Floral, our in-house floral studio offering fresh flowers, bouquets, custom floral design and event florals.

What began with a $30,000 private loan has grown into a multimillion-dollar business and a team of nearly 20 employees. Our growth demonstrates what is possible when local businesses support one another and consumers are given an easy, convenient way to choose local.

At Urban Market 1919, we believe small business is the backbone of Newfoundland and Labrador’s economy. As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same: creating opportunities for local businesses, strengthening our community and making it easier for people to shop local.
